Drew and Kellie Wedding Portraits

Photography \ 01.15.2011

This was my second time shooting a wedding at the incredible Anthony Chapel inside Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, Arkansas. This time, though, it was mid-afternoon, which gave me a lot more light to work with, streaming through the glass walls and ceiling.

Drew and Kellie decided to have most of their individual and wedding party shots taken before the ceremony, so I had plenty of time to capture the happy couple in several different settings around the chapel.  Luckily, there were some solid white umbrellas just lying around in the bridal prep room, and I was able to snag one to use as a diffuser for some of the individual outdoor portraits.  This allowed their faces to be covered in beautiful, even light, without any harsh shadows or blown out highlights, while still keeping a nice bright background exposure.

I absolutely love outdoor (or pseudo-outdoor, in this case) weddings. Having natural sunlight and colorful backgrounds always yields the most vibrant and visually appealing shots!
