Abby and Luke

Photography \ 08.03.2011

During a summer vacation with our friends Abby and Luke, I had the chance to get some great beach shots of the couple about an hour before sunset one evening.  It was the first real portrait shoot they’d ever done, and the atmosphere, ocean, and warm evening sun combined to give us some great conditions for their session.

One thing I love about these shots is how much everything is “blown out”.  I think for beach shots, a really high exposure helps set the tone and goes great with the white sand beach and white outfits.  For many of the shots, I positioned the couple so that the sun was behind them, and then just cranked my exposure until their faces were evenly lit–which produced nice blown out backgrounds and overall bright shots.
